Ingrid Tosteberg writes fantasy books for children. ”I think it is important that there is fantasy books that leads the children into the magical world of reading. This is why I write childrens books. I write fantasy because I love the magic in these fantastic worlds, and the best of all – anything can happen.” Ingrid has written The Saga of Evlonien. It is a fantasy series for children and so far there are three books, and Ingrid is currently writing the fifth book.
In the first book, The secret of the Stonequeen, Oliver finds a magical gait on his grandmother and grandfathers attic. He crawls through the gait and comes to Evlonia. In Evlonia the evil Vaugo has taken power and the queen is sitting on the throne in the Flourishing castle, transformed into stone. Two magical cats, Gizmo and Enzo, play a big part in the book. In Evlonia Oliver meets a girl named Rosali. She is brave and a master of shooting with arrow and bow. Oliver and Rosali makes best friends and their quest is to help saving the stonequeen and Evlonia.
In the second book, The secret of the silver mirror, Oliver and Rosali see a captured girl in a magic mirror. They travel through the mirror to save the girl, who’s name is Nimaya. But who is she? And what is hidden in Cloudy castle?
In the third book, The secret of Misty island, a mysterious mist has spread over the whole Evlonien. The children have to find out where the mist is coming from. On the way to Misty island they lose each other and they meet several magical creatures, both good and evil. Oliver is captured by some creatures in Inconsolable swamp. When they finally reach Misty Island, a big surprise is waiting for them.
The secret of the golden well is the fourth book in the series. It is not yet in print, but it will be published in 2025. In this book, Oliver must leave Evlonia and find the way back to grandmother and grandfathers house in “the Other world” to find another cat. The children must then find the Golden source somewhere far away in the wilderness and fulfil a quest. If not, evil will take over in Evlonien.
The plan is that there will be five books in the series, but you never know what happens. The books can be read independently.
